17 Weeks Pregnant – Pregnancy Week by Week
As the pregnancy progresses, and your womb grows, you are going to be more static day by day.
Try not to sleep on your back, because, as the belly grows, increased pressure on large blood vessels can cause pain. The most comfortable position for you would be to lie on the side and put a pillow between your knees.
If you feel dizzy when standing up from a lying or sitting position, don’t panic. Dizziness is because your cardiovascular system does not react fast enough to position changes. Your womb is now near to the navel.
Probably all women experience vivid dreams during the second and the third trimester of their pregnancies. The REM phase of the dreams (the stage you remember your dream if you waken up) is shorter in this period, but since you wake up more often – to change to a more comfortable position or to go to a toilet, you interrupt your dreams and then remember them more vivid.
Children that developed ears become more sensitive to the sound. It can now hear your heart. If the baby is a boy, this is a moment of developing prostate. The cartilages slowly transform into bones. There is a little subcutaneous fatty tissue under baby’s skin, so it looks very transparent. The length of the baby is about 5 inches, and it weighs about 0.3 pounds.
Make a bond with your baby. You probably already felt its movements, and now you’re quite aware of its presence inside of you. Talk to it, sing it a song, tell it a story, play music, and baby will feel safe in the womb. The middle of the pregnancy is a great time to start thinking about names for a baby. Whether you consult books or internet, also consider combinations of names if you carry twins.
