18 Weeks Pregnant – Pregnancy Week by Week
From this week you definitely can’t hide your belly. It is so obvious that you are pregnant! The upper edge of the uterus reaches the point of about 2-3 fingers below the navel. You may still be suffering from constipation, but the need for urination decreases because the uterus is raised and it no longer presses your bladder.
So far, you should gain no more than 13 pounds. Perhaps you have already found the activity you enjoy, but f not, every moment is right to do something good for yourself and your child’s health. If you do not feel the baby yet, do not worry because some mothers do not feel its moves until the 20th week or even later.
The baby now gains more fat tissue under its skin, which by the time of birth, will make about ¾ of the total child’s weight. The ultrasound shows that the baby’s eyelashes have just begun to grow. If it is a girl, then the uterus is formed in this week. The length of the baby is about 5,5 inches long, and the weight is about 0.5 pounds.
If you are prone to stretch marks, you will not be able to avoid them in your pregnancy, no matter how you try to suppress them. You can slow them by nourishing your skin with an adequate cream. Choose the cream that suits your type of skin, and it will hydrate and nourish it so that it won’t lose much of its elasticity.
When choosing cream, it’s not always the price that counts. There are expensive cremes which tell a story of stretch marks disappearing miraculously, or never appear at all. Purchase a skin care cream that will hydrate and nourish it. Stretch marks do not disappear after labor but only become less visible.
Have you heard of “mask of pregnancy“? It is a phenomenon called melasma, that is caused by hormones and is more common in dark women. It is characterized by brown patches on the face and usually disappears after the labor. You need to protect yourself from the sun because the sunlight makes it worse.
