33 Weeks Pregnant – Pregnancy Week by Week
The size of the pregnant belly is entirely individual. Do not compare yourself with other pregnant women, especially if your doctor has confirmed that your child is developing properly and that it reached the adequate weight for the given gestational age. It can sound terrifying, but now you get about a pound per week, but about the half of this weight goes to the baby.
Having your legs slightly swollen is not the reason to worry. But if you have severe headaches, visual impairment, if you feel any stomach pain with vomiting, then you must see your doctor immediately because, untreated, the preeclampsia can progress into the eclampsia, far more severe condition. These symptoms may indicate that you have preeclampsia, a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and is one of the most serious complications. It causes high blood pressure and kidney damage. The fluid leaks into the tissues and causes swelling.
In this period, the baby amniotic fluid is at its highest rate. Accelerated growth of the baby’s brain continues. The reduced space in the womb prevents the baby to move as much as before, so its activity becomes stronger. The lungs of the baby are still immature, but the baby is increasingly exercises breathing. The weight of the baby is about 4 pounds and the length is about 17 inches.
Tip for this week
Make arrangements with friends who have children to borrow you clothes that their children outgrew. If you would rather buy new clothes, this is the moment to start shopping! When you finally get everything needed, you should begin with washing and ironing.
If you have more children, let them take part in preparations for the arrival of a new baby. This will help them not feel isolated. Spend with them time when the baby is asleep. They want things to be as before. Let them practice cuddling and holding the baby on their puppets, and later let them show that they are now a big brother or a big sister. They will be gratefull to you.
