Your womb now presses the diaphragm and reaches up under your rib cage, creating a sense of fullness and weight in the stomach so that you won’t be hungry all the time as earlier. It is also crowding your internal organs, making you need to pee more often.
From now on, you’ll be visiting your gynecologist every week.
The child continues to gain weight rapidly. Its weight is about 5 and 1/4 pounds, and the length is about 18 inches. The liver starts to process waste products, and the kidneys are fully developed.
At the doctor’s
This week your doctor will do a vaginal and rectal culture to check for bacteria group B Streptococcus. It is usually harmless in adults, but you could pass it on to your baby during the birth it can cause severe complications as meningitis, pneumonia, etc.
Tip for this week
If you have a fear of childbirth, share it with people who are close to you. Also, talk to your doctor about techniques of pain management during the labor. In every case, the childbirth is unpredictable, but you should be prepared to be patient and undisturbed in every situation. Only that way you can help everything to get a happy end.
