4 Weeks Pregnant – Pregnancy Week by Week

Your pregnancy

Some women are sure of their pregnancy from the very beginning, although their gynecologist has not announced happy news yet. We can call it either female intuition or pregnancy hormones rush. Those who did not plan their pregnancy are now worried about how to accommodate to new changes, while the others celebrate. In any case, there is more confusion in your head than in your womb at this moment!

Baby development

This week your baby becomes an embryo with the size of poppy seeds. In the next ten weeks, all baby organs will develop and start with their functions. This period is significant for your baby because it is most vulnerable to the external impacts.

Your child is now an embryo that has two layers: epiblast and hypoblast, from which all its organs and body parts will develop. The primitive placenta also has two layers. Its cells form a small tunnel to the inside of the uterus that will supply blood with oxygen and nutrients. It also produces an amniotic fluid in which your baby will live comfortably while growing.

Note: Each baby develops individually in the mother’s womb

Tip for this week

Doing a pregnancy test now (you can find it in every pharmacy) can confirm your new condition. The most important thing to think about now is to schedule your first appointment at your doctor’s office. Most of them will tell you to wait until you are eight weeks pregnant unless you have some medical condition or you had problems with your previous pregnancy. It is essential that your doctor is a person of trust. You will want to ask him millions of questions in the next nine months, so he should also be easy to communicate.

Through the placenta, a baby is exposed to everything you take into your body. It is the best time to take care of your diet! If you take any medications, you should inform whether it is safe to keep using them.
